Distance : 8km from Jaipur on Agra Road. A formally laid garden was one of the things which the Rajputs borrowed from Mughal architecture. Outside the walled city of Jaipur, out of the Ghat Gate towards Agra, lies the garden Vidyadharji ka Bagh, designed along the lines of a Mughal garden. As the name suggests, it was built in honour of the main architect of Jaipur, Vidyadhar Bhattacharya. It has a lovely setting, spreading in the valley between two low hills. Earlier this little garden used to be the vineyard of the rajas. Though well planned, the garden could really do with some restoration. But the evening brings with itself a special charm; well-concealed lights at the base of the surrounding hills outline them against the darkening sky |
